Free local fitness support for patients

Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) offer free fitness and wellbeing support for patients in our local area, based at Ravensthorpe Community Centre and Batley Community Centre.

What’s available?
✅ Fitness for Health (12 weeks – referral required)
A free, supervised exercise programme for adults with long‑term health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, COPD, anxiety, depression, or joint problems.
The programme includes an initial assessment, weekly small‑group exercise sessions, and ongoing support from trained exercise specialists. Referrals are made by a GP or other healthcare professional. If you suffer with one of those conditions above please contact the practice for a referral.

✅ First Steps to Fitness (6 weeks – self‑referral)
A free programme for people who are currently inactive and would like help to become more active. Sessions combine gentle exercise with practical advice on healthy lifestyles, confidence‑building, and wellbeing. Patients can self‑refer directly.
